Mission & Values

Our mission and values define VULPRF as an organization. They articulate who we are and what we believe, influence our goals, guide our actions, and help us explain our aspirations to the communities we serve, our partners, and our supporters.

Our mission is to stop violence among the youth and promote peace in its entirety.

VULPRF works to protect and promote the rights of vulnerable persons across Nigeria — including children and youth, women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities. We believe that every person deserves to live free from violence, discrimination, and fear, and that lasting peace can only be built through justice, inclusion, and opportunity.

Our Values

Integrity is the foundation of our credibility. Our actions are guided by our mission and our commitment to transparency and accountability.

  • We act with honesty and communicate openly with our beneficiaries, partners, and donors.
  • We uphold high standards in our programs and financial management.
  • We take responsibility for our actions and follow through on our commitments.

Inclusivity

We embrace diversity and ensure that our programs are accessible and responsive to all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, or social status.

  • We actively include women, youth, persons with disabilities, and minorities in our programs and decision-making.
  • We design programs that are culturally sensitive and community-appropriate.
  • We oppose all forms of discrimination.

Partnership

Collaboration is essential to our success. We work with communities, government, civil society, and international partners to maximize our impact.

  • We build and maintain strong relationships with local and international partners.
  • We prioritize listening and learning from the communities we serve.
  • We recognize and celebrate the contributions of our volunteers, staff, and partners.

Non-violence

We are committed to peaceful means of conflict resolution and advocate against all forms of violence, particularly youth violence.

  • We promote dialogue and mediation as tools for resolving conflicts.
  • We counter hate speech and incitement to violence.
  • We model peaceful, constructive engagement in all our interactions.

UN ECOSOC Consultative Status

In 2025, VULPRF was granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This prestigious status recognizes our expertise and contribution to civil society, and enables us to:

  • Attend and participate in UN conferences, meetings, and events related to our mandate;
  • Submit written statements to ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies;
  • Engage with UN mechanisms on human rights, peace, and sustainable development;
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Development Goals (DGs);
  • Network and collaborate with other NGOs and UN agencies worldwide.

This status strengthens our ability to advocate for vulnerable persons at the international level and to connect local action with global frameworks. We are proud to be among the Nigerian NGOs recognized by the United Nations for our work in peace building, human rights, and social development.
